Trouble with installation

Post by crenshawdesignz »

Let me start by saying I have read what I can still find on the web and I really want this application. Nothing else out here comes close to the potential I see in this app.

OK.

I found a 1.0 version which is the only version I have found which actually works for me. The 3.x versions do not connect to my database no matter what I have done. I set the variables the same as the 1.0 version, which works.

What gives?

I have even done and installation where I combined the 3.x version with the 1.0 folder and then did the install but still nothing...

By now you have figured that I am a novice but a real newbie with this application. Is there any hope for me...?

P.S. Is this written only for Windows servers? My server config is as listed below:

OS: FreeBSD
PHP: 4.4.1
MySQL: 4.0.16

Is there a manual, 1000 page PDF anything that I can read so that I may ask this forum some intelligent questions? I hate to be a bother but I know that this application is hot!!

All open source releases (netjukebox 3.60 and later) will automatically update the database when needed.
When you first have installed netjukebox 1.0 you have to delete the whole database before you can run the latest netjukebox.
Also use the configuration file (config.inc.php) from the downloaded version!
I hope this helps.

PHP 4.4.1 with MySQL 4.0.16 shouldn't be a problem.
Netjukebox have been successfully installed on many different operating systems (Windows 2000, XP, 2003, Fedora, Suse, OSX, etc…)

The current codec pack is for Windows only.
So if you want to stream you must find your own LAME, oggedec, flac, etc.. for FreeBSD.
And update the path and file extension in config.inc.php file.

At the moment only:
http://www.netjukebox.nl/install.php

And of course this forum

There always is, even if that has to mean buying a new pc or something like that :P

(...)Is this written only for Windows servers?(...)

I might be wrong, but as far as i know is a php based piece of code never written for a certain OS.
PHP is a server-side program, that preprocesses the code and can make connections to other programs on other pc's using other protocols (something an average browser might not be able to do), it doesn't realy have OS-based functions.

(...)so that I may ask this forum some intelligent questions(...)

There is no such thing as an intelligent question, also a dumb question doesn't exist.
It's the answer that is or isn't intelligent or dumb.
Keep that in mind and life will be a lot easier :)
