Anonymous user access!

Post by highmighty »

Hi all and especially wbartels!

If there is ONE single feature that netjukebox is missing it's this one... It would be nice/perfect/important if we could configure a "user" that doesn't use any username/password combination. Also, this user would only have access to the "browse" and "playlist" sections but without being able of playing with Winamp buttons (e.g. play, pause, next, etc). That way, these users could browse the songs and then queue some to the actual playlist.

Example here via another winamp remote controller:

Thanks for your effort wbartels

Anonymous user account is already on the to do list:
viewtopic.php?t=68

The anonymous user account can than be configured the same way as a regular user account.

I can split the "Play" rights in something like this:

Play (Play, stop, pause, next, previous, delete track, volume and seek control)
Playlist (View playlist)
Enqueue (Add files to the playlist)

For what you want the anonymous user gets the Browse, Enqueue and Playlist rights.

That "splitting" would be perfect, and you could actually merge the playlist & enqueue rights together.

This way anyone could view my songs and add their requests to the actual playlist. FYI, I would still use Shoutcast to stream the playlist... it gives more control over the bandwidth available and it's publicly listed on http://www.shoutcast.com. Come visit me here: http://chilledBeats.dyndns.org and you'll see yourself what I mean by adding requests to the playlist (via "BE THE DJ" link)

Thank you for your time.

That is a good idea.

The first step (anonymous login) is ready.
Take a look at the live demo:
